Fanjian Clan Shrine, Sinwu
The Fanjian Clan Shrine, Sinwu, the most famous Grade 3 cultural relic in Xinwu is the ancestral home of the Fanjiang family. It is an old building of simple and plain style -- the special characteristic of Hakka’s architecture.. The complex is composed of five buildings. The third building is the best preserved and the most representative. They are all red-glazed, single-storied three-sided buildings with different aspects. They preserve many architectural haracteristics of the people of Hakka. The main points of interest of the Fanjian Clan Shrine, Sinwu are its architectural design and its building materials. The glazed ceramic horizontal board above the door that is inscribed with the words “The Reputation of the Fans and Jiangs Will Be Passed Down From Generation to Generation”The incense burning furnace, the earthen jars, the painted doors and walls, the wooden sculpture, the brick sculpture all give full expression to the special characteristics of the traditional Hakka courtyard. The Spring Memorial Ceremony, held on the fifth day of the fourth month of the Chinese Lunar Year, and the Autumn Memorial Ceremony, held on the first day of the eighth month of the Chinese Lunar Year, at the ancestral hall, are the biggest memorial activities.

To get there, take the freeway 1. After arriving at the Xinwu Interchange, take the County Highway 114 to Zhongshan Road, Xinwu, then go straight to the intersection with Zhongzheng Road. Make a left turn, and then go straight on for about 300 meters, following the road signs.
